Part 4
The human was roughly pushed through the doors flanked by two black
and grey robots with one gold and black robot behind them. The man had on some gold armor yet as he
gained his footing her stood defiant in front of the thing in front of
him. He took one step toward the
pedestal before assuming the normal confidence that his kind always had.
"Do you not know who I am," he said. "I am Thoth, a god."
"You are a human," the thing in front of him said. It was not very tall yet had a human type
body. The only real difference was the
eyes. Each one was a slit with a red eye
bouncing back and forth in and it's skin
was like looking at molten metal the way it flowed with his movements.
"I am a god, and I will be your god. Don't you forget it," Thoth said as his
eyes glowed briefly. It did not faze
anyone in the room.
"No, we have no gods, and you are just a human with a
parasite in it," the leader said.
Thoth went to use his powers to demonstrate that he was their god
and was surprised when nothing happened.
His confusion was only mounting when the leader in front of him spoke.
"There is one order regarding human life, its absolute
destruction," the leader said them motioning to the two centurions they
stepped next to Thoth.
"What do you mean," Thoth said as he was shoved down on
to his knees. It was a place he was not
comfortable with and was quite angry that he was in such a position. He barely had time to hear the sound of a
sword being drawn when he felt a slight pain in his neck. He was even more amazed at the fact that he
could now see his own body except for the fact that it was headless before
everything went black.
"Have our forces continue into the galaxy, they are still out
there and I want them found," the leader said to the gold robot after the
two black ones had disposed of the corpse that was Thoth.
"By your command," the gold robot said turning to
carrying out its orders.
Apollo was staring at a balding man who was standing in front of
him. The man looked like he had been in
a battle yet he appeared much more like the ones who had attacked them. He was saying that he was not a friend of
Thoth but he was not sure. An idea came
to him and he motioned the guards to have him follow him.
Apollo walked into the prisoner tent where the
"I don't think he likes them too much," Athena whispered
to Artemis who nodded her head in agreement.
"Do you know him," Apollo replied.
"Yes, I do," the man said. "He is the first prime of the system
lord Thoth."
"He is a god," Re'lee replied standing up quickly.
"Then you should know that your god is dead," the man
said.
"That is a lie, you cannot kill a god," Re'lee almost
shouted at the man. "You are a
To'kra, a betrayer to the real gods."
"To'kra," Apollo said raising his eyebrows.
"I have a Gou'ald living inside me, we are," the man
stopped for a second as he thought of the proper words. "We have a mutual benefit for each
other. Salmac, the Gou'ald, provides me
with long life and health, and I provide him with a host to continue living."
"And you agreed to this," Apollo said.
"Yes, it's been quite interesting," he said in a bit
different voice. "We've gotten so
used to each other that we act as one," he said his voice going back to
normal. "That was Salmac that you
hear when my voice changes."
"I see," Apollo said and was about to say more when
sounds came from the direction of the stargate.
Jack stepped through the stargate and was impressed by the amount
of protection that surrounded the gate.
There were strategically placed guards all around the gate. The rest of the team was with him along with
Ares and Aphrodite. He saw a man with
blonde hair come walking up to them and greeted Ares.
"There's a situation," Apollo said to his brother who
looked at him wondering what that might be.
"Another Gou'ald has come through the gate."
"Is it Thoth," Ares replied.
"No, someone called Salmac," Apollo said.
"Salmac," Jack said having overheard the conversation.
"Yes, do you know of him," Apollo asked wondering about
the relationship between this group and the other Gou'ald.
"Yeah, he's my dad," Sam said getting a few looks from
the others around the area. "I mean
Salmac's host is my dad. He's part of
the To'kra."
"And who are the To'kra," Ares asked trying to gain more
information.
"They are against the Gou'ald. They believe that there should be a mutual
relationship between the two parties involved," Sam said. "Is he alright?"
"He looks fine," Apollo said leading them towards the
tent. Walking into it they noticed that
Jacob was not the only one in the tent.
A brief reunion between father and daughter took place as Sam was
glad to see her father again. After the
last time they had spoken it seemed that there might be a split between the
Tau'ri and the To'kra. Jack noticed that
his clothing was a bit worse for wear and waited until the reunion was over.
"Jacob, what happened," Jack asked as he glanced at
Jacob.
"Blunt as always Jack," Jacob replied. "I was doing to recon against the system
lord Thoth when all hell broke loose.
They were attacked by invaders I've never seen before."
"We're they robots," Ares said from where he had been
standing.
"Yes," Jacob replied missing the look that the two men
shared. "They were unlike anything
I, or Salmac, have ever seen. I'm not
even sure who they were."
"Did they have one red eye that went back and forth,"
Apollo said demonstrating with his hand going from one side to the other.
"Yes, they did," Jacob replied. "Do you know of them?"
"Cylons," Athena said from where she was sitting across
the room listening to the conversation.
"They captured Thoth, we should probably try and rescue
him," Jacob said watching as Jack struggled with the thought.
"No," Ares said.
"He is already dead."
The group looked at him a bit curious as to why he said that. Jack knew that he would go and help out even
if it was helping the enemy. There was a
new enemy and they would require help and rescuing one of their own could go a
long way to an alliance against this one enemy.
"He was a human like you," Ares said looking at Jacob
watching as he nodded his head.
"Then he is dead. Their
mission is to destroy all of mankind."
"They will continue until all human life is gone,"
Apollo said repeating a bit of what Ares said.
"But who are they," Jacob said.
"Cylons," Apollo replied. "Our legends have it that they were a
race which at one time was flesh and blood like you and me. They made advanced robotics and one day they
turned on their masters. Mankind got
involved a short while later at the Cylons tried to destroy another race. The rest is lost until the legend of the
Galactica."
"That reminds me brother, its real," he said watching as
Apollo glanced at him in confusion at first, then amazement.
"You're kidding right," Apollo said.
"We were on it Apollo," Ares told him as the others
became involved in the conversation.
"The Galactica," Athena replied not sure what to think
at the moment. It was part of their
legends but she had never thought it would happen.
"It true," Aphrodite replied knowing the full implication
of what it meant.
"And there is much to be done," Ares said. "If the scanners were accurate then the
Cylons are on marching towards the interior of the Galaxy already."
"That's not good," Apollo replied.
"No, but a battlestar might be just what we need," Ares
said. "With some help we can
rebuild the fleet better than ever."
"Perhaps," Athena said.
"But we'll need help for sure," she looked at Jack and Jacob
as she said it.
"I don't know. Our
political structure isn't too good right now," Jack replied earning a
glace from Jacob. "Vice President
Robert Kinsey is making things difficult right now."
Jacob nodded his head in understanding. It seemed to him that Kinsey was always
getting in the way at the worst time possible.
He had heard that the last time the Earth had been threatened that the
man was involved again. The rumor was if
Jack had not become inundated with the knowledge of the Ancients then it might
have been worse.
"They are not a united world," Ares said to his siblings
who nodded in understanding.
"That will complicate things a bit, but," Apollo said
thinking a bit about what they could do.
There was much that had to be done before and the Cylon threat was quite
real.
"Jack," Jacob said turning to Jack. "I know that this isn't the time, but I
need to get back."
"How did you know to come here," Athena said having
thought about it for a while. She could
only hope that the Cylons did not know about this planet yet.
"I came here because it was the last place that Thoth had
sent his first prime and as a precaution.
If anyone else had followed me then I wouldn't have lead them back to
the To'kra's main base of operations," Jacob replied in a way glad to be
among friends again. "I don't know
if you can expect any help from the To'kra though."
"I know," Jack replied.
"I really didn't think we would be able to anyway. You know where we are if they change their
minds."
"I do," Jacob replied shaking hands with Jack and
Teal'c.
"Sir, I'm going to go escort my father to the gate," Sam
half asked half said.
"Go on," Jack replied.
The two walked out leaving the rest in the tent.
"It seems that there are many different groups in the
galaxy," Apollo said more to himself than the others.
"There are that," Jack said agreeing with him. "The To'kra and the Gou'ald have been
fighting for thousands of years, the
"We are the Colonials," Ares said. "It is an ancient name for our
people."
"Well, I see that we are on the right side. I'll have to talk with my leader to see what
he says about this. I don't know what
type of demands they will press for," Jack said.
"Ah yes, a fractured world.
Politics will deal heavily into this I fear," Apollo said from
where he was standing. "If
something is not done soon then it may not matter."
Jacob came through the gate to where the To'kra had their latest
base. Everything appeared to be normal
as he looked around. There was the
normal group but they looked at him a bit strangely.
"Salmac, you're late," one of them said approaching
him. They had been distrustful of him
lately and had been keeping him on the outside of the discussions.
"I ran into some trouble," Salmac replied. "It seems that things have gotten
worse."
"Then it is true, Thoth is aligning himself with the remains
of Apophis' forces," the man said.
"No, there is a new enemy," Salmac said to him. A race of machines that came out of no where
and attacked Thoth's forces. I'm afraid
that Thoth is dead."
"And how do you know this," the question came from a
woman who appeared from behind them.
"I was already on my way to the gate to report in when the
attack occurred. Their craft were unlike
anything I've ever seen before. They
moved swiftly and efficiently killing everyone in their path. The guards at the gate had already been
killed. Knowing that I could not dial
here I dialed to the last planet that Thoth had sent his forces. That was incase anyone followed me,"
Salmac said.
The two listening to him remained silent while he said what had
happened. Salmac had not jeopardized
their position at the moment but they would wait to see what else happened.
"I was greeted on the other side by a new group. They appeared to be like the Tau'ri but were
a bit different. They appeared to be a
bit more advanced. I was taken
prisoner," Salmac relayed to them.
"Its obvious that you escaped Salmac," the woman said.
"Actually I was let go," he said shocking them. "The Tau'ri showed up. Well actually Jack, Teal'c and Sam showed
up."
"I'm not sure I like this Salmac," the man said to him.
"From what I could tell it seems like this other group has
been fighting a race of machines called the Cylons for longer than we have been
fighting the Gou'ald," Salmac said.
"That's impossible. If
a war had been going on we would know about it," the woman said. "They must mean the Replicators."
"No, Sam said that they were more dangerous than the
Replicators. This group only has one
goal, the extermination of all life," Salmac said. "We should help."
"I'm sorry Salmac, but we cannot get involved in another war,
epically one that does not concern us," the woman said ending the
conversation.
Jacob could only shake his head as he realized that they would not
help out. The humans were on their own
for now. He also knew that his voice
would not carry any weight to push this issue again unless something
changed. He only hoped that by that time
it would not be too late for all of them.
Jonas watched as Aphrodite gathered the children around her to
tell them another story. He had been
excused by Jack as the conversations between the two sides were going along
quite well considering Jack was only guessing at what the President would
want. He looked back at the small red
head that the children seemed to flock to.
He watched as she offered a smile to each and every one of them.
"Tonight's story is about the brave Captain Apollo and his
friend Starbuck," Aphrodite said to them.
Jonas leaned against a tree to listen to the story. It seemed to be a legend about the Galactica
and Jonas wondered how much of the story was true. Apollo and Starbuck had volunteered; or
rather Apollo had volunteered them for a mission to infiltrate the enemy
command ship. It was something that
Jonas could relate to. They had done
such a thing before and knew the dangers.
The two heroes of the story had to get aboard to blind the enemy
ship so the Galactica could launch a surprise attack. There was much suspense but in the end the
Galactica defeated the enemy ship and the two heroes returned safely to the
ship. It was also the last time that the
Galactica would have contact with the Cylons as it led the fleet to Earth.
"So what do you think," a voice said beside Jonas jump
slightly. He glanced over to see Daniel
standing there.
"Ah, it was nice, I was just wondering how much of it was
true," he said.
"We'll probably see when the records of the Galactica are
translated," Daniel said noticing that Jonas was back looking at the red
head. He turned and noticed that the
young woman did indeed have something in her that drew people to her. Her voice was also quite soothing compared to
the others in her family and Daniel wondered if perhaps she had a different
mother or father.
The young woman had moved on to another story but Jonas found
himself no longer listing to the story as much as he was enjoying watching
her. The tone of her voice soothed him
in ways he had never felt before. It
almost was like she was hypnotizing him.
He thought about how her name in Earth legends was a goddess of
love. Looking at her he could find himself
easily falling for her.
"I've been thinking," Daniel said breaking Jonas out of
his musings. Jonas looked at Daniel
waiting for him to continue. "I
think that this system lord Skyleon is not a person, but a race."
"You think it could be this race that they are
fighting," Jonas asked.
"Well, take into account that hundreds of years have passed
and that the man said it was from one of their legends. I didn't run across the name when I was
reading their history, but the man was familiar with them," Daniel said.
"And the name Cylons could evolve into Skyleons after a
while," Jonas said seeing where Daniel was taking this conversation. "So you think that the Cylons are the
ones who attacked them."
"From what Ares and Apollo have told me yes. This race is a danger to everyone,"
Daniel replied.
"Sounds like it could be," Jonas replied.
General Hammond made his way to the bridge where several teams
were working on deciphering the text in the ships computer. A lot of work had been made recently and he
could not wait until he read the report for himself. The Asgard had been quite efficient at
translating the text but that was because of sophisticated computer software helping
them out.
The one problem with it was that everything had to hand drawn and
inserted into the computer. The
computers had not been able to link up with the Galactica's computers. There was a very sophisticated defense
mechanism that blocked any unauthorized hacking into the computer. Two computers had been fried before they had
finally given up.
George hoped that with the deciphering of the texts they would
begin to have a fundamental understanding of how the system worked. With that understanding they would be able to
access more of the ships logs. That was
what George was really looking forward to reading. It would tell the history of the ship and
either confirm or deny the story that he had been told by the recent visitors.
"General Hammond," a voice said and he turned to see Thor
standing there.
"Thor, any new developments,"
"Very little I'm afraid general," Thor replied. "Our scientists are still working on the
first level of security. It is quite
well designed, better than anything we've ever seen before."
"Well I'm sure that we can figure it out,"
"I wanted to tell you that I will not be available for a
while," Thor told him. "I have
been summoned to the Asgard high council."
"Is there anything I should know about,"
"No, they want an update about this ship in person,"
Thor replied.
"Then I guess it will be a short meeting,"
"I hope so general," Thor replied leaving
Thor glanced around the room where the Asgard high command was
sitting. He had given his initial
finding of the spaceship that had been uncovered on Earth and it was not
looking good. The technology was very
advanced for it being so old. It was so
old they still were not quite sure about its age. It had reached the point where an accurate
read was limited.
"Are you sure about your findings Thor," one of the
Asgard asked making sure of what was in front of him.
"Yes, the ship is older than anything we have ever
encountered before," Thor replied.
"And it is more advanced than even we are."
"Then we are left with a tough decision," the Asgard
replied.
"And what do you make of this Ares," a different Asgard
asked Thor.
"O’Neill seems to trust him, but there is very little to
confirm his story without proof," Thor said. "I recommend that we send ships to
investigate the areas at once."
"Many of our ships are still involved with the restoration of
our planet, I'm afraid that we do not have the ships to commit to such a
scouting expedition," the lead Asgard said.
"But if what they say is true, then even we could be at
risk," Thor said.
"The council has decided, until such time as we can
adequately identify the threat that this new race poses the Earth ship will
remain in our possession," the lead Asgard said. "In the hand of the humans it would be
too dangerous."
Thor glanced down not knowing if the council had made the right
choice. He had the feeling deep down
that it was the wrong one and that they all would suffer.
