Part 1
The wind blew the leaves around in a swirling pattern as a small lizard watched on with no curiosity. His focus was on a small insect just a few inches away from the rock he sat on. He slowly crawled forward toward his target. Suddenly a startling noise pierced the air, just enough to make his supper disappear.
A few yards away from the rock a large circular ring standing upright from the ground sprang to life. The stargate had been activated form an offside world. Through the gate four aliens appeared. They wore green and black uniforms and carried weapons.
"All right, you know the procedure." One said. "Spread out and holler if you find anything."
They spread out looking for anything unusual. One walked toward a large cluster of trees at the bottom of a cliff then hollered out.
"O'Niell, I believe I have found something over here."
"What is it Teal'c?"
The three other members of the team walked toward Teal'c. Near the base of a cliff is where they found him. He appeared to be staring at the rock face, which appeared to be normal.
"What's up?" Daniel asked him.
"Take a look at this area and tell me if you see what I see?" Teal'c replied.
"Ok." Daniel said as he and the other two moved around to get a better look at the area that Teal'c was pointing to.
They stood looking at a cave entrance. Looking closer they could see that the cave was lit from the inside. No obvious markings were found near the cave entrance.
"What do you think Daniel?" Jack asked while trying to get a better view of the cave.
"Sam and I'll go in." Daniel replied looking at Samantha for conformation with her, which he got with a nod of her head.
"Okay, but." Jack started to say raising his hand to point it at them.
"We'll be careful sir!" Sam quickly said cutting off Jack's words. "Any sign of trouble and we're out of there."
Jack nodded his head in agreement and watched as they both slowly walked into the cave. Both him and Teal'c glanced around for any sign of trouble that could take them by surprise. The surrounding forest seemed normal, but experience had taught them to be cautious and aware of the surroundings.
"You know Teal'c, this planet just gives me the creeps." Jack said.
"And why is that Colonel O'Niell?" Teal'c replied looking around for a source or reason for his teammates uneasiness. "I don't see or feel anything."
"I guess its nothing, I probably just need a vacation." Jack replied. "Let's just keep an eye out, okay?"
"I will O'Neil." Teal'c replied.
They stood outside the cave entrance for several minutes listening to the sounds. Neither could distinguish the sounds from Earth or this planet. The natural sounds could have been grasshoppers and the trees and vegetation could have come from Earth, or visa-versa. Jack still could not overcome the uneasy feeling in his gut, like something was wrong. Everything seemed peaceful and quiet, maybe that's what's wrong.
"O'Neill, over here." Teal'c said urgently. Teal'c was standing at the edge of a large clearing with a large metallic structure standing in the middle. Before Jack could comment he noticed what looked like small creatures around it.
"Ah Teal'c, you don't see what I see?" Jack asked him.
"If you are referring to the replicator bugs then yes I am." Teal'c replied.
"My day was going all right!" Jack said, then tried to raise Daniel and Samantha. Teal'c stood watching the replicator bugs for any sign of aggression. For several minutes there appeared to be no noticeable change, but that changed quickly.
"Colonel O'Neil, I believe that we should leave now!" Teal'c said.
"I think you're right, come on." Jack said as they started to make their way back to the cave. "Daniel, come in." He yelled into his radio. After several seconds of silence he repeated himself only to still hear silence.
"It appears that major Carter and Daniel Jackson are in trouble." Teal'c said.
"I have to agree with you on this." Jack replied as they approached the cave.
"What do you think O'Neill?" Teal'c asked him. "Maybe they've already encountered the Replicators."
"Well whatever has happened I don't think that we should remain much longer." Jack said looking around at the surrounding area but not yet seeing any Replicators. "Daniel, Carter, can you hear me!" He shouted into the cave, but only heard his echo reply.
"Perhaps it is time to leave while we still can." Teal'c suggested.
"Ok, I don't like it but your right!" Jack said startling Teal'c. "Lets get back to the stargate."
They turned to start heading towards the stargate and stopped.
"It appears that we are trapped O'Neill." Teal'c said seeing the replicators heading toward them.
"Yeah I see that, um...head into the cave." Jack said as he turned towards the cave and entered it. Teal'c followed closely behind him.
"Switch positions with me." Jack said.
"O'Neill?"
"Remember projectile weapons are more effective on these things!"
"But what if we should encounter them in front of us?"
"Then we're screwed, but we know for a fact that they are behind us." Jack said switching positions keeping a sharp lookout for any replicators following them.
"Hold up Teal'c." Jack said after rounding a corner and not seeing any replicators following them. "I don't think they're following us."
Carefully they started toward the cave entrance when they heard a noise behind them. Swinging around they found themselves face to face with Daniel and Samantha.
"Whoa! Easy there guys." Daniel said putting his hands up in the air.
"Daniel? Sam?" Jack said, "why didn't you two answer me earlier?" Sam and Daniel looked at each other thoroughly confused by the situation. They were about to ask Jack what he meant but his attention had already been averted to the opposite direction.
"Follow me." He ordered, and then he started to walk towards the cave entrance. Weapons drawn they followed.
"Care to share what's going on?" Daniel asked.
"Replicators!" Jack replied causing Sam and Daniel to halt.
"Replicators, are you sure?" Sam asked.
"Quite sure Carter." Teal'c said.
"But they shouldn't be in this galaxy?" Sam said shaking her head in disbelief.
"Well they've got us trapped in here Carter!" Jack said quickly glancing at her. "They were right behind us!"
Jack slowly peaked around the corner and found himself face to face with a replicator.
"Ahhhh!" Jack said and quickly jumped back while bringing his weapon up. Unfortunately his jump back made him land on Daniel, who happened to be right behind him and both went down in a twisted pile. Sam and Teal'c both brought their weapons up and aimed them at the corner. Jack and Daniel quickly untangled themselves and got back to their feet.
The sounds of replicators could now be heard but they still could not be seen.
"Jack, what happened?" Sam asked.
"There was one of those spider things just a couple of inches from my face!" Jack said then continued. "We should be fighting them off."
Daniel decided to take a quick peek around the corner. His quick glanced confirmed Jack's story, but they were acting really odd. He looked again, this time pausing to get a better look. Something strange was happening to them. He stepped out into the open with his gun ready in case he was wrong.
The rest of SG-1 watched as Daniel just stood there.
"Daniel, what do you think you're doing?" Jack demanded. "You're gonna get yourself killed!"
"No, take a look!" Daniel said motioning with his hand still not looking at them.
Slowly the other three made their way toward Daniel. Jack was still very nervous but even he could not understand what he saw.
"Ah, Sam, Daniel, what's going on?" He asked his speechless teammates.
"I'm not sure!" Daniel replied. "Any ideas Sam?"
"No!" Sam slowly drawled out while shaking her head at the sight.
Just a couple of feet away from them were a mass of replicators crawling around and on top of each other. They were hanging onto the sides and ceiling of the cave also, but they could not get any closer to SG-1.
"Its like there's a force field here or something?" Daniel said finally breaking the silence.
"Well whatever it is we should take advantage of this and get out of here." Jack said after her finally got over his shock.
"Sounds like a good idea to me." Sam said starting to head back deeper into the cave.
"Did either of you two find anything in here?" Teal'c said as they were walking down the cave.
"We haven't found out what is keeping this cave lit." Daniel said, "However we did find some weird hieroglyphics on the cave wall just up ahead."
"We were on our way to find you when we ran into each other. We had lost radio communications with you." Sam said.
"Were you able to decipher them." Jack asked still glancing behind them.
"I've never seen anything like them." Daniel said.
They made their way further down the cave and reached the spot that Daniel and Sam had spoken of. All along the wall hieroglyphics and assorted drawings had been drawn.
The weird glow from the rocks allowed the team to be able to read the wall without any additional lighting.
"Teal'c, have you ever seen writing like this?" Daniel asked Teal'c as they were looking at the wall.
"I'm afraid not Daniel, I have never seen anything like this before." Teal'c replied.
"Ah, guys, in case you've forgotten, we're trapped in this cave with replicators blocking the entrance." Jack said getting their attention and reminding them of their situation. "Do we still have our camera?" He asked Daniel, who nodded. "Then take a picture and lets continue."
Daniel got out a digital camera and took several shots of the wall. He did not want to miss a single part of the wall. He knew that whoever drew them might have evolved on the planet.
The four members started walking down the cave once more, going deeper than Samantha or Daniel had gone before. The glowing rocks were still present all around them giving off enough light for all four of them to see with. As they approached another bend in the tunnel they heard some noises from further down the tunnel. With weapons ready they slowly rounded the corner and were surprised at what they saw.
